About EMDR
Have you ever watched someone while they were sleeping? Their eyes move back and forth when they are dreaming. It is thought that this is when the brain processes what we have experienced. When Francine Shapiro discovered Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), she was on a walk. She noticed that when she was walking and thinking of a problem her eyes started to move back and forth. At the end of the walk, she felt better.
Now, EMDR has been used to help people of all ages around the world re-process things that have happened to them so they are less distressing.
The Be It Foundation is dedicated to addressing wellness and mental health stigma. We noticed that there are not very many EMDR providers in South Texas. This means that access to this evidence based trauma-informed care is limited in comparison to other areas with more trained providers.
Applications are due by June 15th, 2024
