The Need
Communities across South Texas are experiencing increasing exposure to natural disasters, public health emergencies, and critical incidents. While emergency management systems effectively address immediate safety needs, access to coordinated, quality mental health care remains a critical gap within disaster resilience efforts. This gap disproportionately impacts individuals and communities who already lack access to basic resources, education, or quality mental health care, limiting both recovery and long-term resilience.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote the long-term well-being of people who do not have access to basic resources, education or quality mental health care in South Texas. We provide the resources and support necessary to help individuals build their leadership capacity and achieve their goals while contributing to the wellbeing of their communities.
The Solution
The Be It! Foundation is launching the Trauma Response and Recovery Network of South Texas, a cross-sector, trauma-informed initiative designed to strengthen disaster resilience by integrating mental health into emergency preparedness, response, and recovery systems. This network connects mental health professionals, emergency management personnel, healthcare leaders, educators, faith-based organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure that mental health support is accessible, coordinated, and aligned across systems. The TRRN is currently the only network of its kind in Texas and is being developed as a scalable model for strengthening disaster resilience through coordinated mental health response.
