Are you a clinician ready to lead the way to quality care in South Texas or are you interested in leading policy that addresses mental health change from wherever you are? Be It! Foundation, a non profit organization, gives grants to sponsor individuals or non-profit organization working on innovative solutions that improve the wellbeing of others. Our current efforts have centered on creating the pathway for EMDR Career leadership so that clinicians in South Texas can go from basic training, to consultants, and ultimately trainers able to continue to amplify post-traumatic growth to stop the cycle of trauma in South Texas and beyond. Our current cohorts span from Laredo, San Antonio, Austin, and our newest training was in Edinburg, at University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley.
The 5 year Advanced Practice EMDR and Clinical Leadership Fellowship Program recruits seasoned professionals who are driven to make lasting change to build resilient communities in South Texas. These investments in our providers have infinite impact for individual clients with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and LENS Neurofeedback while also building the capacity of the community to meet their own needs, We believe that increasing access to mental health services for low income families is key for their wellbeing of the entire community, but it isn't enough. We have to use the Spectrum of Prevention of individuals, community engagement, educating providers, fostering networks and coalitions, changing organizational practices, and ultimately promoting policy change like our work with South Texas judges to require EMDR and LENS Neurofeedback to sentencing and court orders.
Applications for the 5 Year Advanced Practice Clinical Leadership Fellowship will open in August for the October 17-19 and 24-26 mandatory EMDR Basic training kickoff. Please contact cio@beitfoundation.org for more information!
Every single one of us is important. We all have a story of challenges and overcoming. The You Matter education Campaign highlights that struggle is normal and real. There is no shame in having a mental health diagnosis or seeking support. BE IT! sees this as a strength unique to each of us to learn better from one another and to help our community thrive together. We offer speaking presentations to promote well-being and prevent mental health stigma. Check back for more information about our upcoming programming.
Thank you to Berenice Torruco for being on our first webcast. Check back for the video recording. Please share widely as we are trying to both educate the community and offer CEUs for providers.

Norma Alicia Hernandez Initiative
Norma Alicia Hernández inspired this Initiative with the generosity and wisdom that she passed on to every person with whom she crossed paths. She financially supported numerous members of religious organizations and helped put students through school, regardless of whether she had only recently met them or had known them for years. No matter where she went, she spread her passion for service and her love for academics to family, friends, and strangers. Norma passed away February 2017 and is lovingly remembered by her family. Norma’s benefactors created the Norma Alicia Hernandez Initiative in memory of her good will, in order to carry on Norma’s legacy of love.
